Sustainability Reporting

Sustainability Reporting (TSRS / GRI)

We prepare your sustainability report end to end under the TSRS (Türkiye Sustainability Reporting Standards) and GRI frameworks, from the materiality assessment through to independent assurance.

Sustainability reporting is now a legal obligation

Under the TSRS regulations, sustainability reporting is now a legal obligation for listed companies and for companies above certain thresholds. Banks, global buyers and investors ask for the same data in their lending, procurement and investment decisions.

Protecting your commercial reputation and your competitive strength runs through preparing your report to the right standards and on verifiable data. Karbonsa takes on this complex process from start to finish. We identify your priorities, gather your data, prepare your report to the framework you choose and make it ready for independent assurance.

WHAT YOU GAIN

What does a sustainability report bring your company?

  • Make access to finance easier. You move into a strong position in green finance and investor assessments.
  • Stand out in the supply chain. You become the preferred partner of large buyers that require reporting and of international tenders.
  • Comply fully with regulation. You hold a report that is ready for assurance and compliant with the legislation.
  • Build a transparent reputation. You present a measurable, credible corporate stance to your stakeholders and to the wider public.

Which framework do you report under?

We choose the right framework together, based on your organisation and on who you will present your report to. Most organisations use these frameworks so that they complement one another.

GRI

Voluntary, impact focused

The most widely used voluntary framework in the world. It focuses on showing stakeholders, transparently, the effects a company has on the environment and on society, and it adapts to almost every sector.

TSRS

Türkiye, mandatory

The framework that applies in Türkiye, aligned with the international ISSB standards and mandatory for certain companies. It reports the effect of sustainability matters on the financial position of the company.

ESRS / CSRD

European Union

The European Union framework built on the double materiality approach. It covers companies of a certain size tied to the EU market, phased in over time.

Whichever framework you choose, the numerical backbone of the report is your greenhouse gas data. We build your emissions inventory through our Corporate Carbon Footprint service and make it report ready and verifiable.

Who does the reporting obligation cover?

The obligation depends on whether the company is listed, on the size of the company and on the scope set out in the standards. Many organisations that fall outside that scope prepare the report voluntarily, driven by stakeholder expectations and commercial requests.

Listed companies and banks

For companies traded on the stock exchange and for banks, sustainability reporting arrived through regulation. Alongside their financial statements they also disclose their sustainability performance.

Companies above the size thresholds

Companies whose total assets, revenue and headcount exceed certain criteria fall within the scope. Because the thresholds were updated recently, we clarify your position for you.

Exporters and suppliers

Companies whose customers in Europe ask for carbon and sustainability data for their own reporting end up having to prepare this report even when they sit outside the legal scope.

Universities, municipalities, public bodies and NGOs

Public institutions, municipalities and civil society organisations report voluntarily in order to account to their stakeholders. Universities use the same data to climb prestigious sustainability rankings such as THE Impact, QS Sustainability and UI GreenMetric.

Note: The mandatory thresholds were revised recently and can change over time. To clarify whether you are in scope and what your priority topics are, you can start with our ESG Strategy and Management Advisory service and assess where you currently stand together with us.

We deliver your report in six steps

From boundary setting through to independent assurance, we complete the process on your behalf in traceable, repeatable steps.

01

Kick-off and Boundary Setting

We decide together on the period, the entities and the target standard the report will cover, and clarify who the report will be presented to and for what purpose.

02

Stakeholder Analysis

We gather the expectations of the parties that affect your organisation and are affected by it, through surveys, interviews and workshops.

03

Materiality Assessment

We identify which sustainability topics are the priorities for your organisation and your stakeholders, and build the content of the report around those priorities.

04

Data Collection and Inventory

We compile environmental, social and governance data from the relevant departments and build the emissions inventory that forms the numerical backbone of the report.

05

Report Writing and Standard Compliance

We write and design the collected data to the requirements of the framework you chose and turn it into a document you can present to your stakeholders.

06

Assurance Readiness

We prepare your evidence set for independent assurance in line with the standard, accompany the process and stay with you until the report is published.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about sustainability reporting

Reporting is mandatory for companies traded on the stock exchange, for banks and for companies that exceed at least two of the size criteria defined for the standards in two consecutive years. Because the threshold values were updated recently, it matters to establish early whether you are in scope, and we can assess your position together.
